push the brake, take a break, break with a brake...
After the Christmas and New Year break which means next year but actually only a few days away, I have not only to submit a contest, write two theory thesis and indexing half of Los Angeles, but also I'm still thinking to re launch CtrlArchDel's site, update synthetic.cut's site and doing some major modifications to this site...
As mainly for next year, I think there will be some changes regarding my online presence. :)
I wish you all: a smooth christmas, a rocking new year and thanks to all 23.706 visitors of 2009.
open throttle...
O/.

The Moffett's dance.
I photographed this Moffett a couple of days a go on the street... I love the way that this small machines attache to the trucks, being as a working extension which climb and hang with it's own force to the truck, the same force used to lift up the heavy loads.

I didn't knew to much about Bata, the shoe manufacturer until one week ago, when at one of Patrick Wright's HTS lecture I found out that Bata, was actually Mr. Tomas Bata, a czech entrepreneur, a fan of Marks, who wished to do in shoe industry what Henry Ford did in the automobiles one. I also didn't know that Le Corbusier dreamed about working for Mr.Bata and that Mr. Bata had his office like an elevator which slides between factorie's levels surveying the inside activities.
He even developed a small town with modernist houses east from London in order to create a small Bata working society…
I really recommend you Patrick Wright's article about this glittering story.

Industry as culture,
Hunedoara, Romania... There is a gothic castle built somewhere in sec.14 by the Austro-Hungaryan empire which was occupying that part of Romania at that time. The Hunyad Castle became later the residence of "Vlad of Wallachia" [so called Dracula, stupid legend but tourists loves it :| ... ]. The castle, later in time, in the romanian communist era was "joined" by a massive industrial area... and when I say "massive" I want to say "hyper, extra, meta, mega huge"... the area was built some where around 1960...
I'm still wondering if the strategy of surrounding the castle with that thick urban industrial layer was a manifesto of the communist party against culture or against Austro-Hungaryan occupation, or it was just the right place to develop the core of romanian metallurgy, the economic heart of the country right in the geographic hart of the country... What is sure is that the industrial park raised the population of Hunedoara from around 1000 inhabitants in sec. 18th to 86,000 inhabitants in sec.20. The not so sexy part is that after the fall of the communists through the "romanian revolution of 1989", the industrial park start dying and ones with the industrial park, the city as well, entered in a really strange and weird "holiday until we die" period of their life...
The castle is still there, trying to survive as a part of the romanian cultural heritage, even if the authorities transform it in a "mall - market" horror combination and the Industrial park look very similar with the Cernobil area but thanks God without the human physical malformations... instead, with many spiritual malformations.
Through the architectural field, I would wish to move there, I would wish to buy half of that industrial park :)) and reconvert it in what you could call a "museum of a country", Museum of Romania.

more pictures from the industrial park's construction times here.

I figured out why I like Romania. This country is like a naked machine, a naked bike, a transformer without cowlings or with just a few cowlings. You can easily observe the political and administrative systems and more or less the social mechanisms. I like it, I find it honest, exposed and really straight forward... like this wing, which close down only for a more diplomatic attitude.

I didn't know Daniel Libeskind can be so passionate in talking about architecture. After 14min. I needed to push "pause", take a deep breath and watch forward... I really enjoyed he's passion in talking about architecture, he's key words and he's opinions about space... I still enjoy D.Libeskind's architecture.

History remain history.
I promised that I will never ever write about this subject, but it's impossible... Yes, I still don't get it why from a sudden this guy is more alive now when he's dead... Anyway he was dead before being dead and I must admit I didn't liked him or he's music back then at all [shoot me for that] so why would I like him now ?... and c'mon, since he's dead I hear one of he's play every day... this is ridiculous... I think he's record company killed him to get some more money... because with him alive, they have been end up being bankrupt.

I never thought that there are still things to improve to this render engine... well there are. Actually they took a smart concept from Maxwell and they really improve it in such a way that we want loos time anymore on render tests. So, you can make your lights setup, materials setup, cameras, etc. and see the changes live in the rendering view port + as long you leave the image to render the quality will be better. Watch the official presentation movie and keep in your mind that the "funny" part began after 1/3 from the movie :)
PS: don't ask about GI and how many cores he's computer have.
